As an electronics manufacturing services provider, SMD Baltic regularly conducts internal audits and undergoes external audits. We do not regard audits as a formality, but as an important tool for the objective assessment of our quality management system and its continuous improvement.
The ATEX and IECEx audit was conducted by a specialist from the international company UL Solutions as part of the reassessment of the manufacturing of explosion-protected products. Its purpose was to confirm that Ex-critical products are manufactured consistently in series production in accordance with approved technical documentation and the requirements of ATEX and IECEx.
SMD Baltic operates as an Ex-critical supplier, meaning a critical supplier within the manufacturing chain of explosion-protected electronics. This means that the manufacturing operations carried out at our facility may directly affect the quality, safety, and conformity of the final product with its certified design.
During the audit, the management of technical documentation and changes, control of components and suppliers, product traceability, production control, and nonconformity management were assessed. Particular attention was also given to employee competence, calibration of measuring equipment, and the maintenance of production records.
SMD Baltic passed the audit without observations. The result confirms that our processes ensure control of critical operations, conformity of series-produced products with approved documentation, traceability of components and production batches, and prevention of nonconforming products from reaching the customer.
This audit does not involve the issuance of a separate ATEX or IECEx certificate to SMD Baltic. Its successful completion confirms that our production facility is prepared to operate within a regulated Ex-critical electronics supply chain and to meet the international requirements applicable to products intended for use in potentially explosive environments.
For our customers, this provides additional confirmation that SMD Baltic can serve as a reliable manufacturing partner for projects related to gas analysis equipment, industrial automation, energy, the oil and gas sector, and the chemical industry.
